My first painting I made in my studio at Brighton art space, inspired by a sketch I made visiting the Millet show ‘Life on the Land’ in October. Part of a two painting series with ‘Splitting’.

Large porcelain cup with scattered iron crystals

Hand thrown small bud vase with a layered glaze surface combining fluxes and iron crystals that bleed into the surface. The glaze flows down the surface of the vase revealing a reddish glaze underneath at the rim, this flow contains subtle blues and browns.
A bud vase is a small, slender vase designed to hold a single flower or a small cluster of stems.

A hand-thrown cup with a white glossy glaze and areas of green crackle shining through. Glazed with a darker foot to have the elevate the cup.
